Born and raised on Salt Spring Island, Derek and his family have been proud to call the Island home for the past four generations. Throughout the years the Island has grown and changed dramatically. Watching and participating in these changes has created not only a love for his island home, but also a deep understanding of the island's character and heritage.

Upon graduation from Gulf Islands Secondary School, Derek left the Island to pursue both a college education and his childhood love, hockey. Derek played three years in the B.C. Junior A Hockey League while pursuing his academic studies. Following this, Derek became a licensed Realtor and in 1993 returned home to work by his father's side, a Salt Spring realtor for the past thirty years.

Derek, now a father of two, looks forward to raising his family on Salt Spring Island and continuing to work hard to meet his clients needs.
